The Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, also referred to as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is located 12 km from Madrid’s city center. The airport is very easily accessible by taxi, rental car, and public transportation. Taking the train and metro are both convenient and quick transportation alternatives to access Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Rail

To get to the airport by metro from the city center you have to take metro line 8. This line starts from the Nuevos Ministerios Station and provides transportation to every terminal at the airport. The RENFRE train C1 line, which you can access from the Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha and Principe Pio stations, provides transportation to Terminal 4. Located 12 km from the city center,  Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, also referred to as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is the main airport in Madrid, serving both international and domestic flights. Madrid-Barajas Airport consists of 4 terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 4, which was built in 2006. Terminal 4 is the largest terminal in the airport and operates flights for many major airlines such as Turkish Airlines and American Airlines. It is an impressive structure with modern architecture that also features a satellite building, TS4. Terminal 1 is the airport’s oldest building and another major terminal. Many airlines take off and land at Terminal 1. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are smaller in comparison to the others. Terminal 3 is dedicated to flights operated by Lagun Air. There is an airport shuttle bus that runs 24 hours a day, providing inter-terminal transportation.

Internet at the airport is free for the first 15 minutes. In Terminal 4 you can connect to the internet by paying a fee. In Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 you can connect to the internet in the departure lounges, VIP lounges, and restaurant area.

Another public transport alternative in Algiers is the tram. The tramway line with 30 stations is mostly used for transportation to the farther areas that are around the city center. One way tram ticket costs 40 dinars. Tickets for 10 trips cost 320 dinars. You can also buy 5-day tickets for your tramway journeys. You can board the tramway as much as you want for 5 days thanks to these tickets, which cost 320 dinars. You can buy tramway tickets from the machines at the stations. The tramway services start at 5:30 in the morning and continue until 11 pm.

It is possible to reach everywhere in the city by choosing from these three public transport options in Algiers. The bus stops and metro/tramway stations are located very close to each other. So you can also benefit from the transfer option easily. However, public transportation is not recommended for security reasons. You can also get a taxi easily in the city center but you are recommended to take a taxi from certain taxi stands. The initial taxi fare is 25 dinars and you are charged 25 dinars per kilometer. All taxis have taximeters. However, some taxi drivers don't activate the taximeter during the ride. For this reason, it would be for your benefit to bargain with the driver about your destination and taxi fare. You can negotiate on the taxi fare offered to you.

Algeria is a country that produces and exports natural gas and oil. Therefore, gasoline prices are very affordable. If you don't prefer public transportation, you can travel the city freely by renting a car. You can find the offices of car rental companies in many places of the city. You should remember that you need to have an international driver's license to rent a car.

It is possible to arrive in Spain from Algeria by ship. You can make an unforgettable journey from Africa to Europe by crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. However, the ship of "Alicante - Oran" on which you are going to travel may not be as luxurious and comfortable as you expect on this intercontinental journey. The services such as restaurants, café, and market are not available on these ships.

Bus and metro lines are available as public transportation options for transportation to the city center from Houari Boumediene International Airport. If you don't prefer public transportation, you can take a taxi or rent a car.

Taxi

Taxis are available right in front of the airport terminal exit. You can get to the city center in about 50 minutes by taxi. Taxi fare costs about 600 dinars. However, you should remember that most of the taxi drivers don't activate the taximeter during the ride. You should tell the driver about your destination and get information about the fare you need to pay in advance. You can bargain about the taxi fare.

Bus

If you prefer public transportation, you can take the bus to reach the city center. The buses leave every half an hour and the journey takes about 1 hour. The ticket price is 20 dinars.

Metro

It is also possible to arrive at the city center from the airport in a short time by taking advantage of the only metro line in the city. The one-way metro ticket costs 50 dinars per passenger.

Rent a car

You can find the offices of various car rental companies at the airport. You can contact one of these car rental offices and rent an affordable car. Car rental is a practical transportation option since oil prices are quite affordable throughout the country.
