About Chillan

Chillan, which is considered as one of the most important ski resorts within the American continent, is located approximately 400 kilometers south of Santiago, which is the capital of Chile. The city is also the place where Bernardo O’Higgins was born in, who manages the war of independence of Chile and is considered the national hero of the country. Chillan is also known as "the place where the sun sits" because of high mountains it has. The region has ski resorts and tourist facilities, and thousands of tourists visit the city every year. The facilities located on the mountain of Nevados de Chillan offer its visitors both a unique view and an incredible skiing experience.

Augas Calientes Mountain and valley, unlike other mountains, is located on a region visited by many tourists for swimming even if it is winter thanks to the waterfalls and lakes formed by hot springs and spring waters. The city was founded in 1580, and it has also buildings that was built with Spanish-style architecture and remained in good shape since then. Among these buildings, the most important ones are Chillan Cathedral, La Merced Church and Carmelitas Church. The only airport of the city has the name of the national hero of the country, General Bernardo O’Higgins. This airport is open to international flights and 7.5 kilometers away from the city center.
